A multi-unit specialty coffee retailer was having a series of different problems at various locations, all related to poor water quality and improper installations by various plumbing companies. Impure water was causing equipment breakdowns and poor tasting beverages. A number of plumbers and other local, small service companies had been called in to fix the problems; however, the problems persisted.
Atlas was originally contacted to fix a single problem at just one store. We tested the water quality, determined the appropriate water filtration equipment needed based on the incoming water quality and quantity needed, and installed a water softener and high capacity reverse osmosis water system with high capacity sediment and carbon filtration. This solved the problem and there have been no further issues related to water quality.
After diagnosing and equipping several other locations with similar results, the customer engaged Atlas in a maintenance agreement to service approximately 60 locations in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Eastern New York, where specific water quality specifications needed to be met. These stores are now set up on scheduled service, creating a proactive approach, instead of a reactive one. Atlas is currently managing all aspects related to water quality for the client, allowing them to focus on their business.
The systems are being maintained by the Atlas service department on a scheduled maintenance program.
